We don’t care for QR Codes Article Image

One of the biggest concerns with QR codes is their vulnerability to cyberattacks. QR codes can be easily manipulated to direct users to malicious websites, phishing pages, or install malware on their devices without the user realizing it. Because the code is opaque, users can’t verify the destination until they scan it, leaving them vulnerable to scams.

QR codes often lead users to websites or apps that collect personal data, such as location or browsing history, without their explicit consent. This passive data collection can infringe on user privacy, especially when QR codes are used in public spaces where personal data handling practices are unclear.

While scanning a QR code is straightforward for most, it can be difficult for users with visual impairments or limited technical skills. Without alternative means of accessing the same information, QR codes can limit accessibility and usability for certain groups.

So, even if we ARE using UZH’s new Powerpoint template with a QR Code, we sent you here, just to show our point.
