Serge Droz

Serge Droz is a senior IT security expert and experienced incident responder. Serge works as a senior advisor at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs on issues such as cyber diplomacy and cyber mediation. He is also in charge of the Geneva Dialogue, a multi-stakeholder initiative supporting the implementation of the UN Framework for Responsible State Behaviour in Cyberspace. He studied physics at ETH Zurich and the University of Alberta, Canada, and holds a PhD in theoretical astrophysics. He has worked in private industry and academia in Switzerland and Canada for more than 20 years in various security roles at the national CERT of Switzerland and most recently at Proton. Serge is a Director on the Board of FIRST (Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams), the leading organisation of recognised global leaders in incident response. In this role, he actively participates in cyber security discussions in various policy bodies, particularly in relation to norms. Serge is an active speaker and regular trainer for Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) courses around the world.
