Oliver Schmid
I have been Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at UZH since 2022. In this role, I am responsible for the strategic development of information and cyber security and manage the university-wide information security management system. Previously, I worked as IT security officer at Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) and as CISO and IT auditor in the financial sector. My work focuses on governance, risk and security management, and awareness and sensitization to cyber risks. I hold an MAS in Information & Cyber Security from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) and several continuing education degrees in the field of information security. My master's thesis dealt with the measurability of the success of awareness measures. It combined existing research results with real-world implementation in Swiss companies. In doing so, I supported the development of a reliable, verified, and applicable method for measuring awareness.
At DSI, I support research from the user's perspective, the ULF module “Digital Security - What Everyone Should Know” from CYREN ZH, and the Cybersecurity Utilities Review & Evaluation (CURE) project from the CYREN ZH Cybersecurity Clinic.
